“Cracker at the Mem”
Welcome to the new season. The Mem was rocking with our friends from Wales bringing a decent contingent. Let's settle into the first home game! Then oh no in typical Rovers fashion we go one down in 15 seconds!!! 15 seconds! Then after 10 minutes Newport rattle the post. Thankfully then the Gas get into gear with Fab, and Bobby missing great chances.
Looking forward to my pasty then out of nothing Bobby tricked his way down the left and Ben Purrington finished off. Phew.
In the meantime Bobby is getting dogs abuse from the fans who worshipped him last season keeping them in the EFL.
I'm sure a few tea cups were rattled at half time, then woosh out came the real Gas. Fab and an own goal put us right in the ascendency. Oh no the defence miss a ball and Newport pull one back with Young nowhere to be seen.
Then Bobby Kamwa scores a fantastic goal and does a full Adebayor in front of the away fans!!! Fair play, I say, if you give it you have to take it. Tensions rise as players clash! Bobby is withdrawn. But again the battling Welsh come back and throw everything up to getting a goal including the goalkeeper.
It was inevitable Fab runs the whole length of the pitch and scores into an empty net. The Thatchers erupts! Eight goals, cracking atmosphere, what a way to start our home campaign. Special mention to Keenan Gough, superb ⛽
